Annette Tan

Annette Tan is an established food writer who contributes regularly to numerous magazines, newspapers, and websites including 8 Days and Channel News Asia.

When she is not eating or writing about food, she dreams up recipes for treats like bak kwa jam, Lana-inspired chocolate fudge cake, salted egg yolk sakura ebi cookies, and nasi lemak club sandwiches that are extremely popular on 8 Days and Instagram. She also consults on menus at restaurants and bakeries across the island.

She recently founded FatFuku, a private dining experience that sees her whipping up home-style Singaporean favourites with delicious modern twists. Think mee siam gareng (a crispy mee siam pancake topped with a prawn and quail egg sambal), curry devil pie, and bak kwa jam baklava.

Annette is the author of Savour Chinatown: Stories & Recipes From An Iconic Neighbourhood, which celebrates Chinatown’s rich historical and culinary legacy through the stories of the enclave’s original hawkers and restaurateurs. She is also the editor of cookbooks like Heritage Feasts: A Collection of Singapore Family Recipes, which was named Best Cookbook –Singapore at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2011.
